  • This is the beauty of unity, these bullshit settler imposed borders may divide us geographically, but they'll never sever our connection. Repost from: @indigenousunited

Yesterday, over 400 protectors shut down the entrance to the proposed #ConcentrationCamp at Ft. Sill in Lawton, O.K.
For twenty years in the late 1800s Ft. Sill imprisoned over 300 of our Apace relatives. Geronimo died here.
Led by Indigenous peoples from across Turtle Island regardless of so- called “borders” we made a strong statement-
Indigenous people won’t allow our relatives crossing the so-called “border” to suffer the same atrocities from our history in concentration camps across America.
No camps on stolen land.
This administration’s racism doesn’t scare us, we’ve survived worse and we are just getting started.
The local and national organizations Indigenous Environmental Network organized this action with include: Dream Action Oklahoma, United We Dream, Black Lives Matter Oklahoma City, Democratic Socialists of America - Oklahoma City, Native Voice Network, Tsuru for Solidarity, Oklahoma Call for Reproductive Justice, ACLU OK, Women’s March OK, American Indian Movement Indian Territory, NACA-Inspired Schools Network, The Majority, Workers Defense, Bend the Arc, Sunflower Community Action,Center for Popular Democracy, Sunrise Movement, The International Union of Painters and Allied Trades, and others.

  • Yesterday, together with @advancing_justice_atl, we launched our campaign to get the harmful program 287g out of Gwinnett. Thanks to the voluntary use of this program by the current sheriff of the county(elected position up for re-election in 2020) we have seen an increase in #racialprofiling #stopandfrisk policing and roadblocks at the cost of $3.5m to taxpayers annually. The roadblocks are done because they know undocumented folks in Georgia can't get licenses so once they're caught driving without a licence, they get sent to jail where they are processed by #ICE & then sent to one of the #detainmentcenters in Georgia, notorious for their inhuman treatment and human rights violations. 20% of all deportations Nationwide come from Gwinnett county and in spite of this program being operated under the guise of community safety, nothing could be further from the truth. Immigrant communities live in fear, often letting crimes against them go unreported for fear of they themselves being the ones sent to jail(it happens). Thank you so much to everyone who was able to make it out for our launch! Message me if you're interested in getting involved!

  • Someone out there needs to hear this. Image description: coral background, dark mint circle, with the text “stop denying your reality” in the center.
__
Accept where you are, the life you were given, and stop trying to paint a picture of what it was. Stop disrespecting your brain. You’re not like them. You were never like them. You don’t have to be like them, or live a life like them, you have to be you and do you baby.
__
This doesn’t mean the same as surrendering and chucking up your white flag. No, acceptance is simply the first key to the door of your personal success; Use the key, so that you can grind and work for a better reality.
__
Accepting your reality means- look around you, are you still wishing you were born with better parents/perhaps you’re acting like your parents were incredible when deep deep down: you were deeply hurt by them. Maybe you’re still resentful that you’re not richer, thinner, prettier, more athletic, whiter, more privileged?
__
STOP IT. CUT THAT SHIT OUT. STOP MINIMIZING YOUR WORTH AND VALUE BY COMPARING AND DENYING WHERE YOU ARE. YOU ARE HERE, FOR A REASON.
__
Yes, we are quite aware of the racial and social injustices of the world, and it’s fucking painful to see entire communities playing catch up. But alas. We are finally here awakening to the corruption and disgusting ways of the colonizer. If we accept this reality of our shared human experience, we can get our thoughts and heart in order to serve our very unique purpose.
__
Spot the difference-
Denial: this sucks, why did this happen to me, I hate my life, I have such poor circumstances compared to him/her, my community is oppressed, so much negativity out there, nothing will ever get better- this is my life.
Accept: okay universe, this is where I’m at, this is the life I have chosen, I made some mistakes, and may not like it, but teach me, I am open to learning. Where do I have places to grow and learn? What work can I be doing? How is my energy being used in this life journey to provide a better future for humanity?
__
Trust the process.
#Namaste ✨

  • On July 20th community from Texas, New Mexico, Colorado & Oklahoma gathered in Ft. Still in Lawton, Oklahoma to further expose and demand to close the concentration camps that ICE and CBP have built all across the country. Oklahoma has not only been a place where deportation agents keep immigrants and refugees in torturous inhumane conditions, but has also been the place where Japanese Americans were detained during World War II. Camps like these have also been used to incarcerate and contain Native Americans and Black communities, and they are a tool of white supremacy to dehumanize us. We are at a moment of choice. “We can either continue Trump’s policies of family separation and the criminalization of immigrants, and allow our government to keep killing refugees. Or we fight back against a government that refuses to recognize the humanity of these children and of immigrants. “ -UWD You can find more actions and sign up your own at CloseTheCamps.us. #closethecamps

  • 7..14.19 Activists from Rise & Resist join together in the intersection’s of 42nd Street & 5th Avenue during the height of rush hour & in the heart of New York City, advocate for immigrants’ rights & to demand the public wake up, take action, and end the border crisis terror. 50 people were arrested for the Direct-action non-violent civil disobedience. (DA-NVCD). Rise & Resist said, “The catastrophic issues of terrorizing communities of color, physical abuse at the concentration camps as well as the public's emotional desensitization compelled the activists to demand changes that are in the best interests of this country. The amplification of hateful rhetoric – from Trump’s birther movement campaign to his recent tweets demanding lawmakers of color go back to the country from which they came – puts marginalized people’s lives at risk. The recent threat of ICE raids announced on two separate occasions amounts to terrorism in immigrant communities. Once abducted by ICE agents, adults and children are often subjected to malfeasance and neglect, families are torn apart, and the instability of whole communities ensues.” “Consider the border officers and their hate, arrogance, and cruelty as demonstrated via their secret social media group that was recently exposed,” said Maryellen Novak, member of Rise and Resist. “Any normalization of such behavior is atrocious and cannot be tolerated.” “We’ve all read the news, seen the images, and heard the children’s heart-wrenching cries. But what are we doing? What are you doing?” asked Jody Kuh, Rise and Resist member. “Today I’m risking arrest by disrupting people’s normal, ordinary routines to draw attention to the fact that what’s happening all around us isn’t normal.”#CloseTheCamps #AbolishICE #StopICE #NeverAgainIsNow. #latergrams #latergram #riseandresist #rise&resist @rise resist nyc “We are a direct action group committed to opposing, disrupting, and defeating any government act that threatens democracy, equality, and our civil liberties.”

  • Yesterday, over 400 protectors shut down the entrance to the proposed #ConcentrationCamp at Ft.

  • This afternoon and into the night Border Kindness escorted to food, shelter and safety 82 asylum-seekers who had been in “detention” in the USA and were released with very few (if any) resources in Mexicali! The majority of these people are children and there are several babies. Many of these families will be spending tonight sleeping outside (in shelter courtyard, with industrial cooler and awake security)! Breakfast has been arranged for all in the morning. Many of the children - and adults - were seriously dehydrated to the point of dizziness. We remain a small grassroots organization and these families are safe tonight because of the assistance of many - thanks to @quetzacoatljt for remote support, @agua.agujas for rallying help and support from afar, thanks to @yerenayellerenas for providing access to transportation to these people and emergency medical care to a child, @karlahernandez.a for translating and logistic support! We post almost every day describing an emergency and asking for donations and assistance. THERE IS A CONSTANT STATE OF EMERGENCY at the border. It is not going away - it is only getting more serious and more dangerous. And again we ask for your help THE BEST WAY TO HELP IS TO MAKE A FINANCIAL DONATION ❤️❤️❤️ VENMO @Border-Kindness #ZELLE is info@borderkindness.org #PAYPAL via www.borderkindness.org SUMMER CLOTHING all ages / all sizes and diapers, baby wipes, tampons/pads, contractor size hefty garbage bags, toothpaste/brushes can be mailed to BORDER KINDNESS at 125 E 3rd ST - SPACE #4, CALEXICO, CA 92231. We have limited time to respond to messages and emails. Please excuse the delay! We do not need volunteers to play with or spend time with the children. Volunteers must be bilingual, have the ability to enter and drive in Mexicali, Mexico, be available weekly or for an extended period of time, have legal, administrative or other experience directly related to our daily work. • As someone who grew up in rural Alaska I find that even after 20 years I still wonder how and why I ended up living in Los Angeles- but if I do an honest assessment I recognize that in spite of my lingering ambivalence this town has given me a lot of gifts; a career, a spiritual practice with a supporting community, sobriety, a good home and a beautiful family and friends- and then there are the other, less tangible, benefits that come from living in a metropolitan area on the West Coast, like access to world class art and music and exposure to a profound variety of cultures, races and identities and then there’s this.... today I’m super grateful to be raising my children in a Sanctuary City that is willing to stand up for real human values, a region that largely recognizes and celebrates both the strengths of our cultural diversity and the shortcomings of some of our historical perspectives and actions. We’ve got some real problems in this country and not a single one of them will be solved by false patriotism, racism or nationalism. Together we shall overcome these trying times, the strength to achieve this is found in our unity. #makeamericacompassionateagain #sanctuarycity #sendtrumphome #strengthindiversity #fuckice #realpatriotism #wereallimmigrants #nativeland #stolencontinent #nativismisracism #nooneisillegalonstolenland #supportthesquad #abolishice #closethecamps
