  • Spent the last few days in and around the giant Sequoia groves admiring their size and colours. It's hard not to stand in awe below these towering giants, looking up to the the biggest living things on earth. Such a humbling experience. This place sparks so much wonder.

Nothing compares to the colors of nature. This is a photo I snapped as the light approached the side of the valley where we were. Truly an inspiring sight! Do you ever stop to see how the landscape changes as the light of the sun rises? ☀️⛰

⠀

  • For the final installment or Arabia with Levison Wood on @discovery_uk we travel through war-torn Syria to Lebanon's Mediterranean shores. This is the ruins of the magnificent temple complex at Palmyra in central Syria. It was looted and sacked by ISIS in 2015/16, and several of the main temples were blown up. Convinced that treasure was buried amongst the crumbling columns, they tortured the site's chief of antiquities. When he revealed nothing, they beheaded him in the town square. He was our guide's father. The only people we found on-site were a group of Chechen special forces, mostly drunk and eating rock-hard dried fish, desperate to go home. For all its former grandeur, a sad and lonely place.

  • Does nature make you jump for joy? I'm more of an internally jump for joy person, but my friend Staci here is a literal jump for joy person. I met Staci a few years ago on a beach in Iceland. We were both solo-driving the Ring Road and happened to find ourselves as the only two people standing on that beach. I can't remember who said hi first, but it was probably Staci (and you'll soon read why). We hung out for all of 15 minutes, took pictures, and followed each other on Instagram. We've been a modern version of pen pals ever since and finally had a chance to properly hang out in real life. We met up in PDX, then went backpacking in the Cascades for two days. Here's what I learned - if you hike with Staci you need to add AT LEAST an hour to your estimated hike time. That's because Staci will stop and talk to every single person she passes. "Hi there! How was your hike?" All that friendliest pays off too. We were gifted a bottle of DEET from one hiker and Nunn tablets from another. This is how I know Staci was probably the first one to strike up a conversation with me. Not only does she jump with joy (and squeals) at every waterfall, mountain, and viewpoint, she also picks up every piece of trash she finds in nature. We were walking around Multnomah Falls and I turned around to find her digging her fingers into the dirt to pick out a tiny half-buried piece of a gum wrapper. Small actions make a big difference. I once told her it was nice to see someone care about the planet the way she does and she responded, "I care about people. Caring for the planet is my indirect way of showing my love for people."

  • Glowing Dust 🚗⚡️✨
•
Had some amazing light by this mountain few weeks ago. We arrived there at 2 AM and waited for sunrise at 2:40 AM. We were about to leave when suddenly this crazy glow appeared for only few minutes. Of course I ran to my car and drove down the road to kick up some dust while @wildbonde captured this magical moment. Definitely a morning to remember! 👌🏼
