  • EAA’s #AirVenture at Oshkosh is a celebration of aviation at it’s core, the grass-roots love for flying we all share. I’ll be there all week from Sunday to Saturday. If you want to meet up I’m planning to make it easy to find me by spending some time at the Envoy booth (C-6) in the Aviation Gateway Park Sunday through Wednesday..
On Thursday morning, I’ll be speaking on the Aviation Social Media Panel at 10am in the Theatre in the Woods along with an awesome lineup of other creators in the aviation media world. Definitely stop by and I’ll be around to chat before or afterwards! I’ll try to keep my Instagram Story updated with what I’m up to as well. Really excited to meet a few of you at #OSH19 ! Who else is coming?? 🙌🏻 #eaa #pilotlife #airlinepilot #airventure @eaa .

  • So what is the meaning of the bars/stripes that you see pilots wear on their shoulders? It shows the rank of the pilot. In my current company a Second Officer wears one stripe, a Junior First Officer wears two stripes, a First Officer or Senior First Officer wears three stripes and a Captain wears four stripes. Some airlines have a slightly different ranking system, but 4 stripes = the boss 😉
• The Captain is responsible for the operation. Both Captains and First Officers perform take-offs and landings. On two-sector days usually one sector is operated by the Captain, and one by the First Officer. On one-sector days, usually the Captain offers the flight to the First Officer, which is great 😊🎉 Second Officers are not allowed to sit behind the controls below Flight Level 200 (so no take-offs or landings).
