  • As much as she misses Mum & Dad when they’re away on their foraging trips, Greta’s alone time allows her to make good friends with the wanderer chicks on other nests (and encourage them to join the #SchoolStrike4Climate of course!). Recently they have all been showing off their widest wing stretches (*see our Insta story*) and braving the #BirdIsland winter snow like these two up here. Swipe to see a gorgeous picture of little Greta in the morning light!

  • Similar to what we see in the US....The Southwest is facing a drought, and people in the plains and south are being flooded..
.
Our lack of action to combat this climate disaster is murdering other humans.

  • “A new quantitative evaluation shows forest restoration isn’t just one of our climate change solutions, it is overwhelmingly the top one,” said Prof Tom Crowther at the Swiss university ETH Zürich, who led the research. “What blows my mind is the scale. I thought restoration would be in the top 10, but it is overwhelmingly more powerful than all of the other climate change solutions proposed.”

  • The cheapest, the fastest and the most sensible way to slow and even stop climate change is to plant as many trees as we can.
.
Trees absorb carbon dioxide from the atmosphere stopping the heating of the planet. They also keep moisture in the soil, prevent flooding, are home to world like ecosystems for animals of all kinds and much, much, much more!
.
These are just some of the fantastic projects going on around the world!
.
We hope they brighten your day! 🌲🤗🌲

  • A plastic bag has a 12-minute lifespan from when it’s initially filled with groceries at the grocery store to when it is discarded.

Compare this with estimates that those same plastic bags take anywhere from 10 to 1,000 years to decompose depending on what environmental conditions the bag is disposed of in.

Quickly, the picture becomes clear that for a few minutes of use, plastic bags weigh heavily on long-term environmental impact.

These bags eventually make their way to landfills and into our oceans, adding to the 8 million metric tons of plastic entering the ocean every year. This impact every scale of marine ecosystems, from bottom feeders and microorganisms to whales.

There is a price to convenience and it’s steep.

  • PROFIT OVER PEOPLE- THIS IS HOW SOME GOVERNMENTS STILL TREAT ENVIRONMENTAL ACTIVISTS - .😡😡😡 spraying tear gas 😡😡😡
Have you ever been punished, mocked or ridiculed for your activism? . Comment with your experience, .
The Environment needs to be the only thing worth defending without it we will not survive . Please share.

 @oceangeneration(@repost_via_instant) No Words.
Activists and school strikers in Paris were sprayed with teargas. The same day, it was 45,9° in France in JUNE. It shattered the old record of 44,1° (which was set in August 2003).
This is not “the new normal”. This is only the beginning of #ClimateBreakdown and #ClimateEmergency . Watch the video and ask yourself; who is defending who? #fridaysforfuture #schoolstrike4climate #climatestrike #youthforclimate #extinctionrebellion

  • We received a flood of responses from Gen Zs worried about climate change. Some were suffering an existential crisis, questioning what’s the point of studying, saving and striving for their future if as they see it there isn’t going to be a future for them anyway. What stood out however was their determination to act to avert it. Be it living sustainably, protesting or working in areas of science, law and engineering to influence change on a grand scale, Gen Z are up for the fight.

  • @c.syresmith and @willsmith started the brand called @just water to change the norm of the $16 billion dollar bottled water industry. They use paper and plant based materials to package their 100% responsibly sourced spring water.💦
.
Many people think you have to choose between environmental consciousness and profits. But there is so much opportunity for new businesses to make change and thrive.
.
What are some new environmental innovations and solutions that you’ve seen pop up recently?

  • Air pollution from coal-fired power plants is linked with asthma, cancer, heart and lung ailments, neurological problems, acid rain, global warming, and other severe environmental and public health impacts.

Of coal’s many environmental impacts, none are as harmful, long term, and irreversible as global warming. Global warming is driven by emissions of heat-trapping gases, primarily from human activities, that rise into the atmosphere and act like a blanket, warming the earth’s surface.

Consequences include rising temperatures and accelerating sea level rise as well as growing risks of drought, heat waves, heavy rainfall intensified storms, and species loss. Left unchecked climate change could lead to profound human and ecological disruption.

  • The world is changed by your example not your opinion! We have to do more than just talk about reducing plastic, waste, and living on a cleaner planet. We have to actually live a life that represents those values! ⁣🌍💚
.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Reducing the waste we produce is a great start. What single use products have you already given up or would like to find an alternative for?

  • We often talk about how recycling isn’t enough on its own and should only be used as part of a wider circular, reusable mindset 🌚🌍⁣
⁣
This fantastic image explains exactly what we mean by that! Recycling only delays the inevitable. Adopting a circular mindset is the only way, as a planet and as a species, we can survive sustainably 🤷🏼‍♂️⁣
⁣
What are you doing to make your shift from a linear mindset to a circular one?⁣
