Soph Allen Profile Information

  • Photoshoot #BTS and highlights - I’ve had a few q’s about the shoots so I’m going to write down my tips and everything I do for my shoots here!
1. Where do I find my outfits? I style all of my own shoots, there are services where you can be styled but I think it’s part of the fun/ I like doing different looks to everyone else. My go-to’s are: Fashion Nova, Boohoo, ASOS, Oh Polly, Meshki, Verge Girl, Showpo, White Fox Boutique, H&M, Rubi/ Cotton On for accessories, Glassons, CK, Glue, General Pants
2. Have an idea of what kind of shoot you want it to be - lingerie, fitness, beach bikini, urban, street style & pick looks accordingly
3. Find some poses you love on IG or Pinterest and save & practice them in your mirror at home! A good photographer will direct you and push you outside of your usual poses too
4. Finding a photographer - Instagram! Look at their work, do you like how they edit, their style, talk to people who’ve done shoots and ask about their experiences. Some will give you minimal direction, others will know exactly what poses will work for your body
5. Food pre shoot - will vary person to person, some people will do better tapering up cals ahead of their shoot for a whole week or just a couple of days, others will look better coming in depleted (lower carbs to reduce water retention), it’s going to be trial & error. On the day I like early morning shoots cause I know I’m harder then, so I’ll shoot fasted/ with coffee in me. I’ll take dark chocolate with me cause that helps give me a muscle pop. The night before I try to get an early night and heaps of sleep. Shit sleep makes me watery & inflamed you can’t always help that, accept it & know the shoots will look insane regardless. I also taper my water intake down the day before
6. I like a sesh in the gym the day before - high rep, high set, moderate weight, slow + controlled tempo, machine work no compound lifts

Hope that’s helpful & hope you love the BTS! Huge S/O to everyone who made the days!

  • Absolutely love getting my photos back after shooting... but the actual process of a photoshoot can be SO tiring 😅 especially when you book 5 in one weekend & are in a deficit for them lol.

People have been asking me why I do photoshoots, or why I diet when I’m not competing. Shoots are an awesome way to celebrate your hard work - be it dieting down or building. They’re an awesome tool for motivation throughout a body recomp phase & the whole process is actually really fun. From picking your looks, make up, finding a photographer you work well with & seeing yourself in a way you never thought possible 🌙. Photoshoots aren’t just for professional athletes, competitors or fitness chicks on Instagram. I’d strongly recommend everyone give it a go & do something outside of your comfort zone 💎📸 imma finish watching The Lion King now and then go to bed 😂 #reality

  • This look definitely isn’t going to be for everyone.. which is lucky cause I only do it for me 🍀.. but to me it is a tiny representation of an accumulation of lessons, hard work, discipline, fuck ups and more lessons. A process with an outcome that isn’t based on a number or visual image. Otherwise I’d always be chasing something.

I often get stuck in the mindset that unless everything is executed perfectly, it’s not considered successful. But not only am I happier with my current condition than ever, I’m so proud of what I’ve overcome mentally to be here in terms of challenging that exact mindset.

Thanks to my dream team:

Pics to come from shoot 1 of 4! 👊🏼

  • Sometimes I doubt myself, my direction, my reasons for doing things, whether I am enough, if I’m living up to my fullest potential.. it’s totally normal to have doubts.

But often they’re based on untrue belief systems. They’re thoughts that pop up with zero evidence of them being true. We get to decide if we are enough, if we’re fulfilled and aligned to our purpose. I think it’s so easy to compare to others, what they’re doing or have. But someone else’s happiness shouldn’t detract from our own 🙏🏼 only we live our lives, and we are 100% responsible for how that life will be 💪🏼 I hope someone needed to hear this today. Cause I sure did 💕💕

  • Question: how many of you have dieted/ managed to lose some or a lot of weight only to put it back on and then some?

Genuinely curious. Did you feel restricted during your diet? Was it really hard? Did you make changes to achieve the goal that weren’t sustainable or related to how you actually want to live your life? Please share your experience below 💖

Because the statistics of maintaining our new body weight are not in our favour - I have experienced this on a personal level 🙋🏼‍♀️. I lived a certain way that aligned with achieving that goal, only to ‘go back to my normal way of living’ after achieving the goal. Or events happened like break ups, moving, deaths, change in seasons that means the habits I’d created were no longer a priority. So how do we change this?

I want to help anyone and everyone create a lifestyle that is fulfilling and enjoyable and beautifully challenging yet simple reflective of your goals because I believe it’s possible, but it takes work.

I’ve been struggling to show up here lately, but I come back to my desire to help, educate and impact peoples lives in order to make this a reality for you all 💖. Thank you for being my ‘why’. Training and nutrition programs available in my bio for you beautiful humans 🥰

  • STUBBORN FAT

I’ve had a few people tell me I’m ready to step on stage next weekend for WBFF given how lean I’m looking. The thing with competing is, you can step on stage at any point, there’s no criteria to pass to get up there. It comes down to how competitive you want to be and what the whole experience is about for you. For me, I’d want to beat my physique last time, I’d actually want to be competitive rather than do it as a personal development experience. Dieting is f’kn hard.. low energy, shit sleep, mood swings, hunger, shit training sessions, food focus, it kind of takes over your life for a period of time.. so it’s a serious commitment.

Getting on stage for the federation I competed in means you need to be lean enough for your glutei to have a level of fat where there’s no jiggle or dimpling.. it’s also a stubborn place for most women to lose fat from. It requires dieting for a longer period of time. Where I’m at now, it would probably require another 8-10 weeks of aggressive dieting. Do I wna do that? Hellll no, even though this is basically my life it already feels too consuming.

My goal now is to build my calories up, build some muscle and strength in the gym, focus on health and see if I can diet down next year on higher calories before I consider competing again.
Stubborn fat, really is just body fat that requires longer dieting until our body breaks it down from those areas. There are no magic tricks, fat burners or tools that speed up this process. Just consistently sticking to a calorie deficit.
