We had an awesome weekend down here visiting friends and family and going to one of the local shows, as well as my first Detroit experience! This was also my first weekend away from home since the show - and given the nature of it, lots of opportunity to “slip up” or just give up! I planned ahead and brought my meals but also knew I would be eating out once per day, so, I made some mods to my normal meals to account for any possible extra cal in the meals I couldn’t be 100% rigid on. I also made smarter decisions going out for dinner - for example instead of burgers, pasta, pizza etc, I would have grilled meat/veg/etc, and if there was a carb I ate what would fit my macros. I also always ask for my food plain steamed or grilled as that will greatly reduce additional/excessive fat intake!

Just because you’re out of your element doesn’t mean you throw in the towel! Be mindful of what choices you are making. It’s 100% doable and you can still achieve your goals while enjoying life! Commit to the process and the lifestyle and watch how easy it is to find that “balance”! ⭐️

Growing your glutes can be challenging for many people.
Sadly, most people that struggle with this simply lack the basic understanding of how to engage and train them effectively!

I’ve been fortunate enough to gain a ton of knowledge on this through the @elitecoachingsystem and @coacheugeneteo workshops that I’ve attended in the past year, not to mention my own experience training both myself and my athletes.

  • Morning rituals - COFFEE + FRESH AIR ☕️🌿

I posted about this on my stories the other day. This is something I do religiously and have for the past cpl years. Typically I prefer to do it alone as it gives me time to reflect and just enjoy some quiet before the day gets crazy. .

Our lives get so busy and overwhelming, and create so much noise in our heads, that having a time set aside to relax/de-stress and be in a good place to start your day feels so important, and it’s yet so neglected by so many! .
.
I challenge you all for ONE WK, to get up 10-15 min early and go outside. Walk, sit, have coffee, whatever - and let me know how you feel during the day and after the wk! I welcome feedback to my DM and I will repost any reviews I get ⭐️ #thegoodmorningchallenge .

  • My goal post show was always to stay within a decent range (6-8wks out look) of another show, while increasing my calories and reducing cardio. There are a few reasons for this:
1) I really don’t know if I want to compete again this year, but I don’t want to be in a position where I’m far off from it. That way if I DO decide to compete again, I would be able to get away with a shorter prep/decide more last minute.
2) I want to look good in the summer! I’ve never been thrilled with my off season look and this is something I wanted to improve on moving forward, especially while the weather is nice and I’m running around in my short shorts and bikinis!
3) You are more anabolic when your body composition is good.  As mentioned above, I always felt like I was a little softer than I would like to be in my off season. For me there is a fine balance between getting enough food to make improvements, but not too much where I don’t look for feel the way I want to. I can still grow with a little less food than I’ve done in the past. In addition, the less fat I hold on my lower half during an off season, the better my preps are/easier to get the condition I need on my glutes and hams!

Feeling good now 8 wks post show. Iffff there is a show on the radar I’ll be deciding by the end of Aug! For now I’ll keep enjoying my beach bod, some treats 🍩, the odd 🍹, and some epic workouts 💪🏽!!!! .

Do I love cardio? No. Do I love what cardio can do for me? YES!
.
Cardio is a great “accessory” for fat loss. It’s not ideal to depend on, but how you use it can greatly influence the results you get. One of the main problems I see is a lack of intensity! Because of that, I find one of the most ideal ways to utilize cardio in someones programming is to including a calorie per minute goal, or even to tell them to burn X amount of calories per session, versus a set amount of time. This also gives my clients some freedom to work with how they feel on any given day! Some days you don’t have that energy to really go ham, so maybe take an extra 5 minutes to complete it. Some days you are ready for the Boston marathon - so you can kill your session in less time! I also love doing intervals as that can make the session go by faster, help you burn more in a shorter time, and be a little more “entertaining”. .
Hot tip: avoid holding on to the machine so that you’re getting the full benefit of it! You can actually significantly reduce intensity by leaning/holding aggressively. A soft touch is ok if you’re clumsy like me! 🤣

  • One of life’s biggest challenges is dealing with change and major transitions. You guys all know the saying: “all good things must come to an end” - which feels kind of negative to me. I think change can be a huge opportunity - one that allows you to grow and learn more about yourself, and to also look back and realize how much there is to appreciate about your journey so far.
.
Having said all of that, it’s bittersweet for me to announce my parting of ways with @hammerfitness . I’ve been a coach and athlete with the company for 5 years, and the growth I’ve experience in those years is incomparable to any other opportunity I could have had. @amerthehammer has played a huge role in my life as my boss, business partner, coach, mentor, and a very good friend. I am forever indebted to him and grateful for every opportunity he has given me to grow into the best version of myself! .
Now it’s time for a new chapter in my life - one where I will have new opportunities for growth and achievement. It will come with its own challenges but I am more than confident to face whatever is thrown my way, with all the amazing experience I’ve gained from working with Amer and HF. I look forward to sharing it all with you guys! .
I will always view #TeamHammer as family and know they will continue to do amazing things with their coaches and athletes, and I wish them nothing but the very best! 🙏🏼💙🕊
